Robert Wood was the son of the English painter W. J. Wood. Encouraged early in life to pursue a career in art, Wood enrolled in South Kensington School of Art when he was twelve. In 1912 Wood moved to Los Angeles. He subsequently lived in a number of states before settling in Laguna Beach, CA in 1940; in the 1960’s he moved to Bishop, CA. During a lengthy career Wood painted scenes from coast to coast: the desert country of the Southwest, the Grand Tetons, the high Sierra, the Pacific Northwest, Florida, Texas, Indiana and the Woodstock area of New York state. |
