Born in Burbank, CA, William Hannum studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Art Students League in New York. Coming to Carmel in 1971, he studied with local artist Keith Lindberg. William joined the Carmel Art Association in 1984 and was consistently one of the top-selling artists in the gallery and won awards for his bold, expressionist style. He was an artist who knew color and was never afraid to use it. Hannum said “these are bright, colorful, expressive works which are meant to embody the strength and character of our area.” William succumbed to cancer on July 17, 1998. |
